Thermal Solutions for High Performance Computing (HPC)

As AI training clusters and HPC systems scale, processor and GPU power density has outgrown what air cooling alone can handle. YS Tech's HPC thermal solutions combine high-efficiency liquid cooling infrastructure with advanced air cooling, engineered for the demands of AI training, scientific computing, and next-generation data center racks.

What is a CDU and why does HPC cooling need one?

A Coolant Distribution Unit manages the flow, temperature, and pressure of liquid coolant between a facility's primary cooling loop and the secondary loop that runs through server racks. As rack power density climbs past what air cooling can dissipate, a CDU becomes the interface that makes liquid cooling practical and serviceable at scale.

What's the difference between In-Row CDU and Sidecar cooling?

An In-Row CDU sits in the data hall and distributes liquid coolant to multiple racks through piped connections. A Sidecar unit mounts directly next to (or as part of) a single rack, pairing liquid cooling with a backdoor fan wall to handle both liquid-to-liquid and liquid-to-air heat rejection at the rack level. The right choice depends on facility layout, rack density, and how the data center's cooling infrastructure is already provisioned.

How do I know what cooling capacity I need?

Cooling capacity should be sized to the aggregate thermal design power of the racks it serves, with margin for redundancy. YS Tech's engineering team can help model capacity requirements based on rack count, chip TDP, and expected density growth. [Contact YS Tech USA] to scope a specific deployment.

Liquid-to-liquid or liquid-to-air, which do I need?

Liquid-to-liquid systems (like the In-Row CDU) transfer heat directly between coolant loops and are typically used where a facility water loop is already in place. Liquid-to-air systems (like the Sidecar units) reject heat to room air and are a good fit for facilities without a chilled water loop, or where liquid cooling is being retrofitted into an existing air-cooled data hall.

Can YS Tech design a custom HPC cooling solution?

Yes. Beyond the standard CDU, Sidecar, and containerized product lines, YS Tech's engineering team designs custom HMI and smart control systems (CAN and LIN), cold plates, and cooling loop configurations for OEM data center and server manufacturers. What monitoring and control options are available?

YS Tech's HPC cooling systems include a human-machine interface for monitoring inlet/outlet fluid temperature, pressure, and pump status, with support for Modbus RTU, TCP/IP, SNMP, and Redfish so systems can integrate with existing data center monitoring infrastructure.
